Who Are We
Meghalaya Integrated Mountain Development Initiative (MIMDI) is the Meghalaya Chapter of Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI), a nonprofit civil society organization based at New Delhi providing a platform for stakeholders in mountain states in the Himalayan region for sustainable development. MIMDI was formally formed in February 2019, although the process started in 2018.
LEGAL STATUS:
MIMDI, is a nonprofit, civil society organization registered under the Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860, bearing the number No. SR/MIMDI-1/19 of 2019 having its registered office at Lumshyiap, Upper Golflinks, Langkyrding-A, Shillong-793001, Meghalaya which works towards bringing together representatives of the government, civil society organizations, media, academia, and the industry and entrepreneurs to get together to dialogue and/or formulate actions for sustainable development both within and outside Meghalaya, hereafter referred to as “MIMDI”

In addition to above initiatives, Institute of Natural Resources (MINR), Govt. of Meghalaya has sanctioned a project to MIMDI for establishment of Zonal Nurseries for Aromatic plants in Meghalaya. The project is completed.
MIMDI with funding from North-East Centre for Technology Application & Reach (NECTAR), Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi is establishing an aromatic and spice oil processing unit at Umsning in Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya.
MIMDI with the necessary infrastructure at its disposal is embarking on collection, processing and extraction of aromatic oil from Bay leaf (Tejpata) in Meghalaya.
MIMDI has recently facilitated capacity building and training of farmers in Apicultue and Cashew nut cultivation with technical guidance from ICAR Research Complex for NEHR, Umiam. Bee boxes would be distributed to the farmers for honey production in Ri-Bhoi district soon helping in income generation for the community
MIMDI is facilitating Integrated Agarwood Cluster Development in Garo Hills with around 500 farmers enlisted with the organisation.Training has been given with assistance from RFRI, Jorhat.
MIMDI is helping in developing infrastructure of 2 schools in rural Meghalaya with CSR funding from the CRPF Sector office, Shillong
